Vickie Fouts is a full-time social justice activist and a member of the Pan Valley Institute’s program committee. After retiring from AT&T 20 years ago, she has devoted her time to educating the white progressive community about racism.
Fouts served as president of the Fresno branch of Women’s International League for Peace & Freedom (WILPF), where she started the Uprooting Racism Project. She served on the boards for the Fresno Center for Nonviolence and the Fresno Free College Foundation. Additionally, she was treasurer of the Central Valley Progressive PAC (CVPPAC) and subscription manager for Community Alliance Newspaper.
A long-time resident of Oakhurst, Fouts founded the Oakhurst Beautification group, and has worked with Cal Trans to make the highways through her community more attractive.
Fouts graduated from Columbia Junior College in 1972 and took courses in women’s studies and sociology at Fresno State in the 1990s. She attributes that education with her conversion from a conservative to a progressive leftist.
